How we keep 2,394 denial codes current

Every verification against ASC X12, every dataset refresh, every source change. Dated, attributed, and signed off by a single accountable owner so you can trust what you see in the EDI Lab today.

How it stays current

The EDI Lab is not a one-time export. It's a living reference, maintained against the authoritative CARC and RARC master lists published by ASC X12 and referenced through the WPC EDI repository. Here is the cadence and the process:

Sources

ASC X12 (primary), WPC EDI reference (secondary cross-check), CMS transmittals and Change Requests for Medicare-specific guidance.

Cadence

Full verification against ASC X12 master lists at least quarterly. Individual CARC or RARC updates are published within 7 days of CMS release.

Responsibility

One accountable owner: Mindy Corbett, CSPO, CPC, CPB, CPPM. Every entry in this changelog is personally verified and signed off.

Evidence

Every denial card shows a verified date and a source link. Dataset-level JSON-LD exposes dateModified, temporalCoverage, and sdDatePublished for machine-readable provenance.

Verified 2,394 denial profiles Dataset refresh
  • Cross-checked every CARC and RARC entry against the current ASC X12 claim adjustment reason code master list.
  • Added a header meta row on the EDI Lab page: "Last verified April 21, 2026 against the current ASC X12 CARC/RARC master lists."
  • Added a verified-date footer to each of the 2,394 denial profile cards so provenance is visible at the card level, not just the page level.
  • Added machine-readable provenance: JSON-LD Dataset schema now exposes dateModified, temporalCoverage, and sdDatePublished. AI crawlers and cited-source evaluators can now read the freshness signal directly.
  • Confirmed WPC EDI cross-references are still aligned with ASC X12 for the codes where both publish.
